Whether or not your child is on the waitlist for a diagnosis, this 1 hour consultation provides essential support for both you and your child. The GP will offer guidance on managing developmental concerns, share resources, and help you navigate the waiting period between assessment and diagnosis. You’ll receive practical advice and emotional support, ensuring both your child’s needs and your family’s well-being are prioritised throughout the process.
During this appointment, your child may be referred for a Mental Health Care Plan which allows your child to see a psychologist or mental health accredited Occupational Therapist for up to 10 visits per calendar year and attract a rebate from Medicare for these visits.
A Mental Health Care Plan cannot be used to cover educational psychology appointments for things such as learning and intelligence assessments.
